Devon company produce 'Predator' rival
0 commentsAfter several years of top secret research, local boot manufacturer Rural Rubber are set to unveil their rival to the Adidas Predator football boot – the 'Finesse'.
The Predator boot was the brainchild of former Liverpool striker Craig Johnson who experimented with a number of different materials in order to produce a boot that would induce maximum curve on the ball. However, Rural Rubber have taken the research to the next level and produced a hybrid which encompasses textures such as leather, latex, Wellington boot material and skateboard grip-tape. The result is a fusion material which is extremely durable, with a comfortable touch on the ball that not only that feels light and natural - but also packs a real punch. The overall experience is expected to provide a genuine competitor to the Predator Absolute, which Adidas are set to release this August.
A spokesperson for Rural Rubber commented "The Finesse is a smidgen heavier than the Predator, but the first touch is far, far superior due to the specially produced instep which has been designed to trap the ball regardless of its speed, how far or how hard the ball is travelling. The side cushioning gently absorbs the impact of the ball and makes a top-class first touch appear effortless. The front half of the boot is much firmer without losing flexibility and the grip and swerve which can be achieved is like nothing that has gone before it. Furthermore the sweet-spot on and below the laces has been reinforced making volleys fly off the boot like a bullet".
The boot is expected to be released later this year and some retailers are already taking orders as demand is set to outstrip supply. A few prototype pairs have already been made available, but are expected to reach premium prices and be snapped up more for display purposes than actual use.
