City suffer play-off pain

21/05/07
ECFC's big day out at Wembley ended in misery yesterday in the Conference Play-Off Final. After taking an early lead, ECFC were pegged back by two goals from opponents Morecambe, who will be playing in the Football League next season for the first time in their history.

The Exeter defence looked nervous throughout the match and the score could have been worse if not for some fine saves from keeper Paul Jones - who also kept out a penalty. Whilst it is hard to find any positives from this disappointment, at least City can now look forward to two derbies (and six points) against local rivals Torquay next season.

I also imagine most City fans will also be glad that they won't have to visit the rather bland new Wembley too often, or have to pay £4.50 for a pie on a regular basis!!! Indeed, many fans, rather than eat the horrendously over-priced food, brought it back and framed it.
