New world record set at Woodbury
The record attempt started on April 1st 2006 in Dumbarton, and has taken in courses in Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland and even Mallorca. In the last year, Turner has walked the equivalent of two marathons a week and lost two and a half stone during the attempt – perhaps something former PGA Championship winner Jon Daly should consider.
Turner, who has been raising money for the Rhys Daniels Trust, does not drink so said he will be celebrating "with a cup of coffee with my family and friends" (definitely not for Daly then). At the finale at Woodbury Park, a pairs competition was held with prizes including a holiday in Mallorca, a weekend at the Belfry and a £20,000 car for a hole in one.
Reports that David Coulthard was seen at the course bashing away looking to get an upgrade to his Red Bull motor, have not been confirmed.
