Billy's boots work their magic
0 commentsExeter City grabbed a vital three points last night to maintain their play-off push in wet and windy conditions. ECFC overcame a stubborn Grays side to win 2-1 at The Park with an air of magic about the winner.
ECFC took the lead in the first half through Paul Buckle, but were pegged back by Grays' Glenn Poole strike in the second half.
It looked like that would be the end of the scoring as the match ticked past the 90th minute. However, deep into injury time, Billy Jones raced forwards, picked up a clearance and launched a thunderbolt into the top corner.
Reports that Billy's lethal strike can be attributed to some boots he found in his attic which belonged to his late grandfather – 'Jeopardy Shot' Jones - who was inside-left for Worksop Miner's Athletic, have yet to be confirmed.
