Exeter set for Olympic centre

Plans are being put in place to build a centre to train young athletes hungry for success in the London 2012 Olympics.

But this is no ordinary centre – with the lobbying for and introduction of many new Olympic ‘sports’ such as Baseball and Synchronised Diving, Exeter’s is to be the first in a new range of Centres of Excellence for activities in which the British excel.

A Government Quango has been established to identify activities which could be seen as eligible sports by the International Olympic Committee, and certainly have as much right to be there as Ice Skating or Synchronised Swimming!

In response to the yanks attempting to get Dodgeball admitted, Devon shall be lobbying for the introduction of:

• Grockle Shooting
• Cattle Grid 400m
• Dartmoor Pony Dressage
• Ice Barn-Dancing
• Welly Chucking
• The Topsham Ten Relay
• Swede Hurling
• Heavyweight Cow Tipping
