City monsoon offers opportunities

ECFC's run of recent good form (influenced in no small part by their January transfer window signings) has resulted in them reaching the all important Conference play-off places - a league position they maintained for most of last season before a disastrous string of results meant they dropped down the league like a concrete hippo released from a helicopter.

A convincing performance at the weekend by ECFC resulted in a comfortable 1-0 victory over Woking, despite quagmire conditions at St James' Park.

The traditional Monsoon season which generally covers the South-West peninsular from November until June, meant heavy going conditions at 'the Park', but has significantly increased the growth of vegetables in the goalmouth at the Cat & Fiddle Training Ground.

If the moist conditions continue, a money-spinning Mud Wrestling Championship is set to be unleashed.
