City centre to host bike race
0 commentsExeter is to host a stage of the Tour Series, part of a series (see what they did there?) of professional cycle races set in and around UK towns and cities.
On the 28th of May the city centre will be transformed into a professional circuit for 50 cyclists, of both Commonwealth and Olympic standard, to do battle.
Exeter is the second stop of the tour, which starts in Milton Keynes on the 21st, before visiting such cultural hotbeds as Woking, Peterborough, Blackpool and Colchester, to name but a few.
Exeter City Centre manager John Harvey says the city centre should take on a real festival atmosphere on race day and thinks it "will be a fantastic and memorable day for the city". We couldn't agree with you more.
The details of the circuit are being revealed today in Cathedral Yard, so we should have some more updates nearer the time. We just hope the council manages to to get the roads sorted out or else they may lose a cyclist or two down a pothole.
Update
Below is the circuit the cyclists will use.
