As the Jamie Mackie transfer saga rumbles on, an ECFC side made up of a mixture of youth and reserve players - with a sprinkling of first teamers - was demolished 5-1 in the Devon Bowl at Bideford.

Mackie was once again dropped from the ECFC squad, but the City side that turned up on Tuesday did include regular first-teamers Richard Logan, Jon Richardson and Bertie Cozic, although they were no match for the silky skills of a bunch of part-timers.

The reason given for Mackie's continued absence by the club is that due to the transfer situation he is 'mentally unfit'. Given Tuesday's result, it seems the entire first team would need to be in a permanent vegetative state before a recall would be considered...
