City show up for TV

07/09/07 - 0 comments

A fine display in front of the cameras on Tuesday evening earned ECFC a well earned point away at Oxford. They bravely fought back to draw after falling behind to two penalties, but it could be the fans who pay the real penalty.

Super-sub Richard Logan leapt off the bench and entered the fray with a little over 15 minutes left, scoring twice to gain ECFC a valuable point. His excellent performance subsequently earned himself a post-match interview with Setanta in front of the impressive City contingent who had made the long trip up from Exeter.

For the eagle-eyed out there who watched the match on TV, you may well have noticed many of ECFC fans taking cover and seeking to avoid the glare of the cameras. This was not due to a rustic Westcountry aversion to technology – but an act explained by new legislation soon to be implemented by employers in the Sowton and Marsh Barton areas.

New regulations are set to influence paid-leave, and in future workers requests for time off due to illness/injury, family bereavement, doctor/dentist/hospital/garage appointments, collecting courier deliveries, jury duty, exorcism, fire, flood or acts of god, retinitis pigmentosa, stigmata or sudden bouts of food poisoning must now be submitted NO LATER than 17:30 the day before a match.

It is no coincidence that this legislation is finally to be pushed through a week before the Rugby World Cup kicks off (book early!)
