People turn up for light show

An amazing amount of people turned up for the switching on of the Christmas lights last night which was followed by a short fireworks display.

The High Street was so overcrowded the police were making people go round the back streets and alleyways.

Apparently Noel turned up but our reporter couldn't see him, and half the lights didnt turn on once the magic button was pushed. Probably an engineer somewhere was having a fag break and forgot to flip his switch.

The end of the night's fireworks display was most impressive by all account with flames bursting forth from the roof of Debenhams. Very pretty.
