Police van hit by old lady

An investigation has been launched after an old lady struck a police van yesterday morning outside Waitrose.

A walking frame was found at the scene. A passing university student said "All I saw was the buggy lying in the road. It did not look very nice at all".

The van suffered damage to it's windscreen and front left wing, but was unmarked and not equipped with blue lights or sirens so it is possible this was an accident rather than a malicious attack on the boys in blue.

A police spokesman who attended the scene reported that "The officer was not injured" and the ambulance service was on the scene within a minute of the incident being reported.
