Exeter mum sells breast-milk online
0 commentsBreastfeeding is a beautiful and natural thing to do for any mother (or wet-nurse we suppose) and now one entrepreneurial Exeter mum has started selling the excess milk she produces on the internet.
The RD&E actually has a breast milk donor service (the only one in the South West) where mothers can donate breast milk, which is then pasteurised, so it can be given to other babies, but an Exeter mum has discovered people are willing to pay for it online, although from what she says her customers tend to be men buying it for themselves.
The Daily Fail have pointed out that "breast milk can be used to maintain general good health and could even be a miracle cure for adult illnesses including cancer and diabetes", although we can't help but wonder if that's really why they're buying it.
The lady in question is quoted as saying "I tend not to ask too many questions or pry into people's private lives" and for her own peace of mind that's probably a good thing.
"All communication prior to the sale is done via email. Then I meet the customer in person to hand over the milk. They can have it fresh or store it in the freezer for up to one month."
We can't help but wonder how fresh is fresh? At £15 for 4oz I'm guessing it's not straight from the tap.
