Hidden cost of sickness

16/02/10 - 0 comments

You've taken the day off work and depending on your job, you may or may not be paid for that absence, but how much is it costing you to get medical support? In Heavitree it may cost more than you think.

The Heavitree Practice, on South Lawn Terrace, Heavitree, is only contactable through a premium rate 0844 number costing 5 pence a minute, which we're told soon mounts up if you're sat in a queue waiting to get through.

We all know GP's switchboards light up in the morning and it can take a while to get through, but charging 5 pence for every minute you're kept waiting does seem to be taking the piss, and we're not talking about those little plastic pots they give you.

Well, after a little searching we thought we had found an alternative number, hidden away on a pretty poorly maintained site (and coming from us that's saying something - Ed) so we gave them a call on 01392 211511 only to find the number does not accept incoming calls. For now it looks like you're stuck with the expensive premium rate number if you need to speak to someone about your health.
