Exeter is going 3D
0 commentsExeter University are behind a push to put Exeter on the map, or at least it's buildings on Google Earth.
We've already seen the Google vehicles driving around Exeter in what we hope is the build up to Street View being enabled, and now the team at the Uni's Web Innovation Project calling on people to submit photos to be included in their 3D campus.
The team are building the models, so all they need are some decent pictures of the campus' many buildings to paste onto the faces of the virtual structures.
You can take a look at a virtual tour the have published showing the first of their models or download this Google Earth placemark file (.kmz) which will take you right there if you have Google Earth installed.
So far the Northcott Theatre is only the first of what we hope will be most of the buildings on the campus, because we love that kind of thing. Let's hope they do a better building job than Carillion.
Would be nice to see a similar project done of the high street and the rest of Exeter. What do you say?
