Thief billed for theft runs to Echo
1 commentA teenage thief who unsuccessfully tried to pocket two pairs of false eyelashes has complained to the Echo that he was billed by recovery specialists instead of being locked up.
Having failed to nick the eyelashes, Adam Hardy was billed around £90 by civil recovery specialists who help recover the money spent on security in shops. His parents seem aghast that their precious boy has to pay a fine for his crime, although they are obviously relieved that the eyelashes weren't for his own use.
"It seems the bill has been sent rather than calling in the police" said dad, Mike.
Presumably he would rather his son be charged with theft, given a criminal record and have the family pay court charges which, most likely, would be considerably higher.
Some teenagers in North Tawton got away with simply apologising after sprawling graffiti over a church, but Superdrug seem slightly less forgiving in this case.
