ExeterCCM slams student pub crawl
2 commentsExeter city centre manager, John Harvey, has slammed next week's student pub-crawl as "completely irresponsible" despite event organisers providing students with safety information.
Lets face it, student drink till they throw up, then they don't do it again. Well that's how I remember it anyway.
We are all well aware of the tragic case of Gavin Britton, who drank himself to death, but is that any reason to disallow student from ever drinking again?
The guys at Carnage UK seem to be trying to promote sensible & responsible alcohol & food retailing, they have provided customer awareness posters and have even gone to the extent of providing free soft drinks at all venues and discounted food at others.
If that doesn't help water down or soak up some of the blood in their alcohol streams then they're really not trying hard enough.
On that note, the event is taking part on Sunday the 25th of October (next Sunday) so if you value your sanity then don't bother going out for a drink (or anything else for that matter) in town then.
Bloody students!
** Update **
The event was originally due to visit Walkabout, EX4, Mosaics, Rococo's, Amber Rooms and ARENA. Since the Echo got their knickers in a twist, Mosaics have pussied out and withdrawn themselves from the lineup while the other venues have taken the opportunity to show how responsible they can be. People who appear drunk will not be served and soft drinks will still be available all night.
