5 killed in freak railway accident

A horrific scene awaited medics who attended the scene of a major derailment on one of the regions busiest branch lines on Wednesday afternoon.

Passengers were left shaken after carriages derailed and crashed, but there was praise for the team of qualified first aiders who attended the scene within three minutes of the derailment.

"At this stage it would be foolish to speculate what went wrong" said Andrew Nunn, director of the line. "It was a very sad day for Trago."

The line will remain closed for the foreseeable future until the accident can be fully investigated by the Health and Safety Executive.
