Exeter's got the second-place factor

21/07/09 - 1 comment

Princesshay was host to some energetic break-dancing yesterday as X-Factor 2008 semi-finalists Flava did their thing, much to the confusion of those around them.

Such a spectacle is not the normal thing for our quiet little city, we're used to the BNP trying to gain support, but not break-dancing youngsters who don't like knife-crime (who does?).

We first found out that Flava were about when Tom Bush sent this tweet out in to the ether:

"Flava" are sort of break dancing in the middle of Exeter. Who are they?

After a quick Google search we were none the wiser as to what they were doing or why they were doing it here.

Later on we were told:

it seemed to be to do with traveline. Think they then donned t-shirts and did the leafleting too. Harsh, fame.

Harsh indeed. One minute you're on national TV dancing your little hearts out, the next you're touring shopping centres, handing out leaflets and trying to get more people break-dancing on the buses, or something.

A sorry tale if ever we heard one.

I too had the misfortune of my dull and dreary day reaching a new low once that racket started up outside my office. However, I note that every so often during their "set", a mobility scooter would burst out from the crowd and cut straight through the dance area in what seemed like a hell-bent effort to run them all over.
