Mama Stone saves the Hub

01/07/09 - 0 comments

The Hub, or Three Fat Fish if you prefer, has been vacant for some time now, but all that is about to change as Joss Stone's mum Wendy has bought the venue.

The venue will be re-opened in August with a live performance from Joss herself (presumably at a reduced family-rate) in early September and will feature a bar, cooked food and a recording studio.

The Hub never seemed to know what it was, live music always seemed a bit cramped in the space available and the bar never did seem big enough to be a regular watering hole, but hopefully a bit of mama's magic should spruce the place up a bit.

The move comes as the original Mama Stone's in Wellington was closed over complaints about the noise.

Wendy said: “We already have our managerial roles in place but anyone working as bar staff or in the kitchen should just drop by with their CV.

“We will also be looking for local bands and unsigned local talent to perform, so demo CDs are also welcome.

“We want to provide a stage for local artists, and we are open to any music genre.

“Mama Stone's will be a place for people of all ages to come and relax and listen to some good live music.”
