Mickey Mouse outfit to open in Princesshay
0 commentsExeter's shopping outlets are taking another step towards being exactly the same as everywhere else in the country with the announcement of Disney's plans to set up shop in the Princesshay shopping centre.
Many see this as another big retailer showing a renewed confidence in Exeter, whilst the more pessimistic of our readers might see cheaply produced tat being sold at a tremendous mark-up and marketed at children.
Admittedly, there may be more people coming into Exeter's town centre to shop in the Disney store who would have previously gone to Bristol or Plymouth, but at the end of the day the cash will still be going into the pocket of a hyper-global mega-corporation instead of local retailers who are more likely to reinvest in the region.
The same can be said about the new Toys'r'Us development in Sowton, but for some reason we're less inclined to hate them outright.
