Cowboy clampers taking the piss

01/06/09 - 0 comments

There's a new bunch of bastards on the block, they call themselves Premier Park Ltd and they seem to have no morals or scruples whatsoever.

Having just bought a new (7 year old) car, Paul Carroll parked outside his home in a clearly marked residents bay, leaving a note explaining he was a resident and that the car had only been purchased that day. After only 1 hour they found that the car had been clamped.

Having called the clamping company and explaining his situation, that he was new to the area, had just bought the car and that he was unable to get a parking permit yet as it was a bank holiday, the clamper demanded the £75 blood money and ignored all reason and logic.

The boys in blue confirmed that if the clamp could be removed without damaging it, then all was fine and dandy, but as he was considering this course of action, the clamper came back promising to remove the clamp within the hour.

After over an hour later and no sign of their return our man went to bed. Next morning, much to his surprise, the car has been towed away.

The fine to get the car back was now £385 which Mr Carroll had to borrow to pay the ransom.

After all this trouble, you would have thought the car would have been returned to whence it was taken, but no, the car was simply abandoned in the Haven Bank car park, leaving Mr Carroll to search for it all on his tod.

Now this hasn't been clarified, but did the bastard clampers put a parking ticket on the car, or was it simply left there, ready to be clamped by the next load of money grabbing bastards? We'd be interested to know.

A spokesman for Premier Park claimed that the firm had acted "wholly within the Security Industry Authority guidelines" which are obviously in need of massive scrutinization.

Apparently the firm was entitled to remove the car if it appeared damage was to be done to the company's property, I.E. the clamp, which we already know he had been warned not to damage by the boys in blue.

The manager of Premier Park may want to remove himself in that case as it may appear that Mr Carroll would like to do damage to his face. I certainly wouldn't blame him.

What better way to welcome someone to the area than to tow their car off and demand money from them. Bastards.
