Stagecoach spin

12/03/09 - 5 comments

In an amazing PR stunt, Stagecoach have managed to convince the local rag that a 6% price increase on their standard fares is actually a 'Price Freeze'.

With fuel prices dropping from their peak price last year Stagecoach proudly boast that they were going to increase prices by a further 10%, but instead, as they're such nice guys, will only be increasing the fares by 6% instead. How jolly kind of them.

While it's true that some of their MegaRider fares have stayed the same, these are generally unusable before 9am and so completely useless for the working population.

Even when you take the free bus services for pensioners, which is a nice little earner for the bus company, charging tickets to the council for trips to the end of the route instead of where the passenger actually gets off, they still feel the need to rip the rest of us off and keep their shareholders in gold Rolls Royces.

You'd have thought with the all the cheap labour they have with their foreign drivers the prices would be coming down, especially after the VAT drop, did the prices go down then?

The Echo of course call this another win for them as part of their 'Exeter Bites Back' campaign.

Maybe the increased fares will be put towards teaching the cretins how to fucking drive. Indicators would be nice on the Bonhay Road roundabout.

lets all just drive cars - who needs buses. Take up half the road anyway.
