Pointless crap doesn't work
2 commentsIt will probably come as no surprise, but the metal monstrosity in Heavitree is broken again, this time through design, not malice.
The structure is supposed to glow "variety of bright colours" when it gets dark but it seems that the bright colours are misfiring, and instead of a uniform glow the whole lot is higgledy piggledy and glowing completely out of sequence.
The designers have been called back in to investigate the problem, as it seems being paid £70k doesn't guarantee the quality of their work. You'd have thought they would have at least tested the damn thing, not that that's much consolation to the poor blighters who have to live next to it.
Cllr Peter Wadham, who is the 'portfolio holder for sustainable development and transport' (WTF? - Ed) said: "The timing wasn't quite working. It had not been set as we wanted it, so they are resetting it to get it right"
"[...] art is always controversial. It is supposed to make people think, so from that respect I do feel it has been a success."
So we can only assume that the goal all along has been to get people thinking "What a fucking waste of money" and to that end, he's right. Total success.

I just want to advise you that the Heavitree Mural has again become the subject of vandalism, the main pain of glass has been smashed, which will no doubt incur more cost to the tax payer.
I also feel this vandalism will continue until it is taken down. I’m also shocked that you’ve made no effort to remove the graffiti behind the mural, the whole thing is a complete abortion, and the way you’ve handled it makes Exeter City Council look like a bunch of retarded kids playing with blancmonge on a sunny day. You incompetence and misjudgement of the people is insurmountable.
