Didn't they do well?

Students from Exeter have managed to achieve the lowest score on University Challenge in over 35 years, losing out to Corpus Christi College by 350 to 15.

Much of the competition saw them in negative figures after buzzing in before they knew the answers and getting themselves penalised.

Jeremy Paxman, the show's host, is best known for his abrasive and forthright style when interviewing politicians said: "I'm rather at a loss for words. I'd arrange to be out of the bar the night this goes out. You were thrashed by a very strong team."

Team Captain Richard Stearn, 21, didn't take this advice. He held his head high in the bar, although it seems he didn't take part in the pub quiz afterwards.

"We were all really happy to get to the quarter finals. It is the furthest Exeter have ever been."

To be fair though, that's a lot further than we would ever get.
