Celebrate national Tree Week before they all dissapear

25/11/08 - 0 comments

As Exeter City are ripping up trees left, right and centre, Exeter prepares to celebrate national tree week. Oh the Irony.

A series of events have been put on from November 26 to December 7 (someone can't count) at the city library and the Exeter Picturehouse, including a photographic display by Paul Sandy, showing a range of images of local woodlands, parks, pastures and formal gardens, which starts today.

"In this debut exhibition, a total of 30 original images by Sandy will showcase the specimens from throughout the city."

Tomorrow at 6.30pm, award winning naturalist (no, not the naked people type) and author of Illustrated History of the Countryside, Oliver Rackham, will give a talk on the past, present and future of trees and woodlands in the British Isles and their importance in the cityscape.

Just remember to enjoy them before the council tear them down a put them in a tree museum. Jodi Mitchell will not be happy.
