It's still not C***stmas

The council have decided it's nearly time to start enjoying the nightmare that is the Yuletide winter solstice and have started putting up the decorations already.

Regular readers will know that we hate anything jolly here at TIE so the oncoming encroachment of this years consumerist joy-gasm comes with little enthusiasm.

This years festive illuminations will be turned on by none other than retired competitive figure skater Robin Cousins MBE (No, I'd never heard of him either - Ed). That's right, the man who can proudly boast that he came second in the World championships in 1979 and 1980 will be here to whip us into a shopping frenzy!

According to the Wikipedia Cousins "starred in, produced, directed, and/or choreographed many international TV ice spectaculars such as The Nutcracker on Ice, Sleeping Beauty on Ice, The Wizard of Oz on Ice, Toy Story on Ice (seriously, what the fuck? - Ed), Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express on Ice, Holiday on Ice" and we can only presume he's the guiding light behind the new series of Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice.

At least this years shopping season has been pushed back by a full working week, the lights coming on a full 5 days after last year's memorable ceremony, although the exact date does seem to be a bit of a movable feast.

So anyway, 'tis the season to be jolly, apparently, so smile as you reach in to your pockets to fund consumer globalism.

More time trawling through the town centre with millions of plebs meandering meaninglessly about.

How Fun.
