0 commentsThe computers were stolen from the cars and homes of council staff, who had taken the computers with the information on home as part of the council's 'Working from Home' initiative.
Ironically in some of the thefts/losses the computers taken contained personal information about employees at County Hall, so not only are they loosing our data, but they've lost their own as well.
The data lost in the majority of the thefts has never been recovered and the council doesn't even know what was contained on many of the computers that were taken.
We blame those liberal lefties who keep campaigning for freedom of information. Somewhere in County Hall there's a IT manager who's got the wrong end of the stick, who's chucking laptops out of the window shouting "Fly home my pretties, you're free!"
A spokesman for Devon County Council said: "We have very clear staff guidance that potentially sensitive information should not be stored on portable devices such as laptops" although how they're supposed to work from home without the information they need to do their jobs is another question.
Perhaps they should just get off their fat arses and cycle to work. At least that way the data remains safely locked up at DCC HQ and the traffic stays off the roads.
