Expensive Art
1 commentWhat was originally put forward as a mural, the new metal and glass monstrosity is not at all what the people of Heavitree were expecting.
Exeter has a couple of murals in key sites in the city. As you come in from Topsham Road a bunch of builders on scaffolding can be seen as you get to western way, and as you come off the Exe Bridges roundabout you get a festival scene as you start up Fore Street.
Instead the council have decided to go ahead with the current plan despite vocal protest from those who live there.
"Wouldn't it be a much better idea to have a mural that would be colourful and reflect the spirit of the community?"
Instead of the wordy monstrosity that the council have approved, we came up with our own artists impression of what could have been.

We like to think it combines strong traditional aspects with a modern twist. Lets face it, the thing is going to get vandalised at some point, so why not get the kids involved. We're hip with the yoof, init.
I dare say a crate full of spray cans wouldn't be setting us back to the tune of £70k either. We'll even let Ben 'Am I on telly?' Bradshaw open it.
