Council defends bad zebra

In a statment to this site, the council have defended the placement of their much critisized new crossing.

A spokesman for DCC stated that "There is no requirement regarding proximity to junctions contained in the regulations" and pointed out that the Department of Transport's "recommendations on the design of pedestrian crossings" can simply be ignored by councils. So that's OK then.

It seems that that the council can do what it likes in these matters.
