The rag reports that the teacher in question has been suspended for 'allegedly' buying alcohol for under-age girls during a sports trip.
Never mind that anyone over the age of 14 can be in a bar at the licensee's discretion and that 16 year olds may purchase beer, porter, cider, or perry with a meal in an eating area on licensed premises, this guy was getting schoolgirls drunk and trying to have sex with them!
The teacher from Magdalen Court School, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was at a hockey tournament with the girls when he was alleged to have supplied the booze, so it's quite possible they were all having a nice innocent drink together to boost team moral, or even to celebrate a hard fought victory, but this seems to have been completely overlooked. Isn't it better they have a small amount of alcohol under adult supervision than go out to the park and get paralytic on blue WKD/cheep cider and getting felt up by strangers in the dark?
The paper reports that "the matter has also been referred to child protection officers on the Devon Safeguarding Children's Board, which is also made up of police officers, healthcare professionals and social workers."
They may as well print "hang this pervert" on the front page and be done with it. The lynch mobs fuelled by rumour and hearsay are gathering in Sowton at the usual place rather than waiting for the investigation to complete and arming themselves with facts.
