Shed decimated in blaze

Fire-fighters in Woodbury Salterton were alerted to a raging inferno by local residents on Sunday shortly before 3:30am.

The blaze, which it is thought started accidentally was put out by a crew from the Topsham station, but not before it could damage an adjoining shed and a section of fence.

Residents were treated for shock as locals were not used to such excitement in the early hours of the morning.

"I was getting up for a glass of water," said William Mathias, a local old man, "I looked out of the window and saw the shed. It looked like it was glowing, but then I realised the terrible truth."

A section of overhead power cables were also slightly singed.
