Echo wants soft sentancing for knife crime

When the Express and Echo have nothing worth reporting it seems that they trawl the internet looking for someone to hound for no good reason. This is exactly what's happened to one Exeter police officer.

The Exeter officer is now under investigation over comments posted on Facebook apparently condoning violence against violent suspects.

One comment in particular seems to have got the officer in hot water about a video (seen here) of a youth who pulled out a knife in a custody suite before being restrained. One user wrote: "look at this stupid cunt, hope he got a good fucking shoeing in the cells."

It was not this comment that has caused the problem however. The officer is alleged to have added "And remember, let's not be so soft on these cunts out there" which seems to be pretty fair comment to us, given the situation.

Is this the same paper that is trying to get samurai swords banned and are now suggesting the police should go soft on these knife wielding idiots?

How about a quick slap on the wrist and send them back out into the wilds of Exeter to stab another granny for her pension? Does that sound good to you?

How about we let the police actually get on with their jobs. It makes a nice change that they're not trying to persecute drivers for speeding.
