Echo latest to fire Katie
After a mediocre run at writing a regular column in the rag, Hopkins has been given the boot after an on-line poll with 84% of voters opting to give her the heave-ho.
She said: "If people would rather read about jumble sales and village fetes, instead of what I've got to say, that's their choice.
"I enjoyed the work and appreciate the people who supported me, but I have plenty of other things to be getting on with."
"I'm good at what I do and people like me, who work hard, are successful."
This is now the third 'high-profile' sackings the poor girl has endured after waiving commitment in The Apprentice, and having the MET office get hot under the collar over some steamy snaps.
Echo editor Marc Astley said the readers' decision was final.
"It was my decision to hire Katie and I do not regret that. I did not always agree with what she wrote but neither do I agree with many of the letters we publish."
