The burger that cuts carbon emissions

30/08/07
The whole country is going global warming mad, everyone trying to persuade you to cut your carbon emissions and be more green, but one burger van is doing it all, whilst giving you a little spice with your lunch.

The Mid Devon Chillifarm was started in 2005 by Jon and Sandy Rose who were experimenting with growing chillies with hydroponic equipment. Now, 2 years on, they have a whole farm (well a couple of poly-tunnels) devoted to growing their spicy produce.

On their website the currently sell individual whole chillies or even a nicely prepared chilli sauce or 'hot' olive oil, although if you fancy a taster before you invest then you could do a lot worse than visiting Quality Catering in Sowton, off Apple Lane.

In their unmissable green burger-wagon, amongst the usual ketchup and brown, there is now an exclusive selection of the chilli-farm's quality sauces ready for topping off a bacon butty or sausage sarnie, whatever your heart desires.

So if you have an adventurous pallet, or have simply been sent over to get your boss' lunch, then ask for a bit of 'Devil's Tongue' and tell them we sent you.

Remember, eating local produce means you're doing your bit for the environment.
