Come to Bampton, it's lovely

The mid-Devon town of Bampton, near Tiverton, is opening it's doors to visitors on August 27 in it's annual open day, which it has been running for the last 10 years.

The open day is to raise money for local groups and charities while having fun, although the day does have it's darker side.

Amongst the attractions confirmed so far, which include a car boot sale, duck racing, a dog show and craft stalls, the bell ringers of St Michael and All Angels will be throwing children's beloved cuddly toys from the top of the church bell tower.

Some of the toys are up to 60 years old, risking being dashed on the rocky ground beneath and having their stuffing burst out like a scene from a Tarantino film.
