All talk and no trousers
Ben Bradshaw, the so-called 'Minister for the South West' has said that housing is now at the top of the government's agenda. Unfortunately he seems to be more interested in promoting his rock band [1] than the local economy.
He recently told the BBC: "We shall have to wait until the Comprehensive Spending Review, but housing and planning are all coming together. I am optimistic."
I'm pessimistic Ben and fear sod all will be done, as per usual. Those renting out their second and third homes will continue to raise their rental incomes because of 'rising house prices' based purely on the lack of affordable housing which is caused by them not selling the houses they own to people who need them in the first place.
The rich get richer, the homeless get brushed under the carpet and everyone else works for the privilege of paying some other wanker's mortgage.
What we need is heavy taxation and regulation on landlords so that all the houses that have been bought up can be sold to those of us who actually need them.
