Is you up for a ruck?

Police were called out to Cullompton on Saturday to what is being described as "a potential large-scale disorder" after pupils from 3 Devon schools organised a mass brawl.

Around 80 kids were involved, from age 11 upwards, carrying an assortment of weapons, from baseball bats, bicycle chains, bits of wood and metal bars.

Unfortunately Police intervened and moved on youngsters who were gathering on the fields just outside Cully, however a 17-year-old received a verbal warning for the possession of cannabis, and cigarettes were taken from several children.

The students arranged the 'get together' through social networking site Bebo and through emails and texts, the clever little buggers.

The only question that remains is: why on earth were they carrying baseball bats? Surely any right minded ruffian would clearly be taking a cricket bat along for the frivolities.
