Carillion still don't get it

The PFI schools funded by Carillion are going from bad to worse. Not only have they skimped on football pitches and left schools infested with insects, but now the buildings are proving uninhabitable.

This time however it's the air in the buildings that's causing the problem. Not only are the temperatures expected to rise above the regulatory 28°C (reaching up to 46°) but the airflow in the buildings means that CO2 levels will also rise.

West Exe Young Offenders Institute will be worst affected, it's expected to reach 12,500 parts per million, leaving guideline levels way behind at only 1,500 ppm.

The ongoing campaign against kids seems to be based on recent NHS reorganisations. If you can stop children going to school you can save on the running costs.

A spokesman for Carillion said "Guidance notes are also being distributed to the schools to explain how thermal comfort can be optimised."

Why they feel the need to use such management speak is unknown, but with Devon County Council withholding a six-figure sum each month because of the cock-ups you can be sure Carillion's monetary comfort zone will need optimising.
