Fire on Woodbury Common

No one would have believed in the last years of the twentieth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own.

Sounds like science fiction, but the first of the Martian pods has landed on Woodbury Common. Witnesses reported a bright light from the sky followed by an unbearable heat that scorched the bracken and earth surrounding the impact site.

A tall plume of smoke was clearly visible this morning and it's only a matter of time until the Martian death machines are moving across the region scooping up innocent locals and feasting on their flesh.

Scientists have been tracking the capsule for the last year as it made it's egress to our planet, but it was kept from the public domain as it was feared it may cause a panic.

It seems that the Martians have heard of the HG Wells epic and have decided to recreate it, leaving millions undefended and unprepared believing it's just a hoax.

The Martians have also put up Police notices to stop people spying on their activities as they prepare to wipe humanity from this planet.
