Plymouth tries to burn the sky

In what was thought to be an ancient druid ritual, the people of Plymouth attempted to set fire to the sky and bring on the apocalypse. Fortunately for the surrounding areas it simply resulted in a lot of bright light and some banging.

Investigations have revealed nearly 50,000 rockets were launched at the sky, but thankfully none of them took hold, although it is believed that there may have been some localised damage. A spokesman said "It looks like we've smashed it but we'll have to wait and see".

Emergency fire crews were dispatched to shore up portions of the sky around the city centre and so far, the sky hasn't fallen.
