They didn't think it through

Have you ever wondered where disabled folks are supposed to park in Exeter? Have you counted how many disabled parking bays there are in the city centre? When you get through with that, maybe you would like to ask, what muppet put the new post office on the second floor, for easy access.

It's not rocket science, pensioners collect pensions at Post Offices. While you are working that out, what if there was a fire in the Post Office, Err a lift that holds 1 wheelchair!! What a great bit of forward planning that is. Bear in mind you can't use the lift if there is a fire.... Now ask how they get the wheelchairs out.. Over the friggin' rooftops?? .. Lord give me strength. Just in case that doesn't float your boat. Ask where disabled people are supposed to Park to collect the pension. What a crock of shit this town is becoming.

The Ancient Brit

The mistake you've made there is assuming that anyone within the city council is capable of forward planning or what we like to call 'common sense' when it comes to laying out our city's road and amenities.

To be fair though, it doesn't look like many people in planning seem to have the brains to think about what they're doing. At the Vue for example, just inside the main door is an emergency phone for disabled users who may get trapped in the building. Unfortunately the phone is about 5 foot up the wall and completely out of reach to anyone in a wheelchair.

Exeter University gives those crazy disabled people an even rougher time of things. Some of their buildings are equipped with what look like large metal filing cabinets on the upper floors. On further investigation it turns out these metal coffins are there so if there's a fire, disabled people can be put inside while the able bodied amongst us escape down the stairs. Yeah, the box is fireproof, but it's also a lot like an oven. Nice.
