Double standards?

Hi, how's it going?

I don't get it: You slag off the Echo for highlighting a cop who likes giving people a kicking in the cells, but then say in the story about the woman who hit a copper that it was £20 well spent?

You can't have it both ways - unless you think everyone should go round giving everyone else a good kicking all the time!

CityWhite

Well CityWhite, it's like this here, you see...

The copper in question was never, as far as I can tell, suggesting that the guys with the keys should routinely kick 7 barrels of shit out of every thieving Mick and Joe who are escorted through their doors. I think it's more likely he was saying the type of people that take up PC Shish kebabery need a little firm guidance back onto the straight and narrow from time to time.

Stabbing a copper in the chest, in my humble opinion, is far worse than a whimsical boot to the gluteus maximus, but that's just me...

A good estimate for the value of a life is around £1.5 million (adjusted), and I very much doubt that the scrote in question would be able to raise those kinds of funds had his dagger antics come to fruition.

As for whether you think you should go round kicking or stabbing people for fun is questionable. Remember, for your 20 quid you get one standing kick to the arse, without a run up, and you're not allowed steel toe-caped boots. Fun once, but it's going to get costly if you try it with everyone you meet.

That said, even if you win the lottery I think you'd need to agree beforehand if you're intending to stab someone, as a knife to the chest often offends.

Hope that clears things up a little.
