A bad day for Chavs
The factory in Treorchy, south Wales, has now ceased production of polo shirts, which Burberry is moving to China, after deciding that the south Wales plant is not commercially viable.
More than 300 people have lost their jobs in the closure, although Burberry said 175 of the workers had already found other employment.
Meanwhile, TK Maxx's American parent company, TJX, revealed an "unauthorised intrusion" in to its computer systems in which somebody had used sophisticated software to access customer data for payment card transactions at TK Maxx stores in the UK and Ireland.
The hacks happened in its data centres in Watford and in Framingham, near Boston, USA.
"We suspect that these files contained payment card transaction data, some or all of which could have been unencrypted and unmasked."
The US firm become renowned for offering bargain prices on clothing from designer labels such as Armani, Calvin Klein and DKNY.
