A day for England

13/03/07
For years the Irish have lorded it up on March 17, colouring everything green and drinking bucket loads of Guinness, but now plans are afoot to promote April 23rd, St. Georges Day to the same patriotic extent.

For a long time being proud of being English has not been something we're any good at. Football hooliganism in the 80's and 90's didn't help, and these days the politically correct brigade equate national pride with racism, but no longer.

stgeorgesday.com has been running a campaign to re-claim the day and have it as a national holiday, allowing us all to go down the pub and get sloshed, just like the paddies.

"There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word, which means more to me than any other. That word is ENGLAND." - Winston Churchill.
