In a somewhat ambitious move the government wants to send out text messages to foreigners whose visas are about to run out.
As part of a three-month pilot programme beginning next month targeting both legal foreign workers and illegal immigrants. It's still unclear if half of them will be able to understand what's been sent to them, between confusing TXT-speak and the fact that they can't speak English to start with.
Other plans include fining landlords up to £20,000 for housing foreigners who overstay their welcome along with a new system to stop them getting driving licences.
How immigrants without valid documentation are getting driving licences is another question altogether.
Sounds like we need SPEC cameras set up along the coast rather than on our roads.
