Bank notes covered in drugs

08/01/07
Britain now has so many drug users that it is thought nearly 99.9% of bank notes have traces of cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and cannabis.

Bristol company Mass Spec Analytical examined notes from around the country, from both rural and urban locations (the checked over 1,500 £10 and £20 notes) and found that nearly all of them contained traces of the drug cocaine.

The other drugs were found in much lower numbers as the chemicals that make them up break down far quicker than those of cocaine.

It's thought that price-wars in supermarkets such as ASDA and Sainsburys have brought the cost down so what was once the mainstay of the Wall Street Exec's is now available to clubbers and school children.

Out of nearly two billion notes in circulation, only thee million notes can be considered 'clean'.

Before you all start licking your twenties it should be noted that the particles of the drug were initially dissolved in finger grease and passed to notes by human contact. Nice.
