Scared shitless?

The National Phobics Society has estimated nearly 4 million Britains are affected by a fear of going to the toilet.

Paruresis or 'shy bladder' syndrome is the fear of urinating in the company of others and Parcopresis, 'bashful bowel' syndrome is the inability to defecate in public toilets. Combine this with an unhealthy ammount of OCD and you could have a problem, say the experts.

If the state of the public toilets in Exeter is anything to go by this may not be such a bad thing.

Professor Paul Salkovskis, a leading clinical psychologist, said part of the problem was society's squeamishness about going to the toilet.

"We say 'I'm going to the bathroom' or 'I'm going to powder my nose' because there is a taboo surrounding using the toilet."

Right, enough toilet related news, I'm off for a shit.
