Time for a panda cull says Packham

22/09/09 - 0 comments

BBC wildlife presenter Chris Packham has come out stating that the symbol of the WWF, the Panda is a doomed species and we should let go of our sentimental conservationism.

Speaking to the Radio Times he said "Here's a species that, of its own accord, has gone down an evolutionary cul-de-sac. It's not a strong species. Unfortunately, pandas are big and cute and a symbol of the World Wildlife Fund".

Packham says that these cuddly bears are sapping resources that could be spent on more helpful animals that don't mind putting out once in a while for the god of the species.

"I reckon we should pull the plug. Let them go, with a degree of dignity".

He stopped short of calling for an out and out cull of the animals, instead favouring the round-up and extermination of the countries civil servants.

"Go into the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs with a flamethrower and torch all of the stupid bureaucracy that dogs our farmers".

We don't think they'd make such nice hats though, do you?
