0 commentsMore accurately, that should be 'there are no spoons', as a set of silver spoons worth £20,000 has been stolen from a Barnstaple museum.
The spoons, which had been made locally in the 17th century, were donated to the museum by a local man over seven years ago and it's thought they were removed from their display cabinet some time on Friday between 9.30am and 4.15pm, ish.
There is CCTV in the museum, but it's unclear when exactly the spoons were taken.
A museum spokesman said "these are the only examples of Barnstaple silver in our collections" and that they were used to show the schoolchildren who visit "how wealthy and important Barnstaple was".
A 40-year-old man was arrested but he has now been released on police bail.
The spoons are still unaccounted for.
