Plymouth magistrates originally deferred the sentence for two months after the defendant admitting stealing 14 pairs of flip-flops, worth £544 from Free Spirit and a can of cider, worth £1.99 from the Co-op.
Ryan Blackmore, 21, admitted taking the shoes with three accomplices and was put on an electronically-tag for two months and ordered to pay £120 compensation to Free Spirit and the full £1.99 to the Co-op.
The shoes were not recovered.
